Macomb County Public Works employee fired, faces embezzlement charge

From Macomb Daily, “A Macomb County Public Works employee has been fired and faces a criminal charge amid allegations he stole county-owned lawn equipment.

The 53-year-old man is named in a felony complaint signed by the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office, charging him with one count of embezzlement of property with a value of at least $1,000 but less than $20,000. He has not been arraigned yet.

Following a recent auction of surplus county government equipment, a Public Works Office supervisor noticed the blower-and-backpack unit was missing Sept. 18 from the department’s storage building where lawn maintenance equipment is kept, on Dunham Road behind the Macomb County Jail, a police report states.”
