Former county employee ordered to repay $17K in embezzled cash

From Livingston Daily, “A Howell woman accused of stealing cash during her tenure at the Livingston County Clerk’s office will be required to pay nearly $17,000 in restitution.

The missing money was discovered by county Clerk Elizabeth Hundley, who said she noticed discrepancies when closing out the cash drawer shortly after taking office in January 2016.

The embezzlement, all in cash not receipted to county accounts, occurred between December 2015 and May 2016, Hundley said.

Fortier, who worked for the county roughly four years, was placed on administrative leave but resigned prior to the completion of the internal investigation.”
