Ex-Waco realtor’s association employee charged in embezzlement case

From KWTX, “A woman who’s a former employee of the Waco Board of Realtors was arrested Tuesday and charged with theft from the organization.

Sharon Motley Jones, 65, posted a $3,000 bond Wednesday morning and was released from custody on a charge of theft, a McLennan County jail records supervisor said.

Police began investigating finances at the board office in February after an internal audit uncovered a large discrepancy in the group’s books, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said Wednesday.

The investigation showed more than $53,000 missing from accounts over an extended period of time, Swanton said.

Police obtained a warrant for Jones and deputies from the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force arrested Jones Tuesday.

“It appeared the theft had been taking place over a period of years,” Swanton said.”
