From Pasadena Star News, “A former account clerk at Mark Keppel High School and her daughter each received prison sentences of four years Thursday for embezzling $189,000 from the school’s student government, officials said.
At the time of the embezzlement, the mother was working as an account clerk for the high school’s ASB, Risling explained. Erika Boranian volunteered as a cheer leading coach and helped her mother manage the ASB funds.
“Between 2007 and 2012, the pair siphoned tens of thousands of dollars from the school account,” Risling said in a written statement. “The thefts were concealed for years through manipulation of accounting records, combined with the alteration and destruction of bank records, accounting records and cash receipts.””
